BORIS POPIVANOV

Boris Popivanov was born on July 20, 1981 in Sofia.

 

In 2004, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" with a specialization in "Political Theory and Political Process". In 2006, he graduated with a master's degree in Political Management from the same university. In 2011, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the issues of Bulgarian citizenship and European institutions.

 

Since 2008, he has been a senior assistant professor, and since 2016, an associate professor at the Department of Political Science of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He teaches basic disciplines in political ideologies. Author of monographs and articles on the theory and history of left and right political tendencies in Bulgaria and Europe.

 

He has participated in international EU research projects dedicated to youth participation and migration.

 

In the period 2022-2026, he was an advisor to the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

 

By Decree No. 119 of March 19, 2026, he was appointed Advisor to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
