Bulgaria offers excellent conditions for winter sports and has a track record as a successful host of European and international competitions. We are also delighted with the outstanding results achieved by our athletes. We would be pleased to draw on Andorra’s experience in this field and to establish direct links between ski resorts in Bulgaria and Andorra. This was stated by President Iliana Iotova at a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Principality of Andorra, Xavier Espot Zamora, held during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

 

The main topic of discussion between the two was the strengthening of cooperation between Bulgaria and Andorra in the field of tourism. Iotova proposed that joint initiatives be used to promote tourism opportunities in both countries. Prime Minister Xavier Espot Zamora stated that Andorra is ready to share its best practice in tourism development with Bulgaria, as it welcomes over 10 million tourists a year.

 

Iotova and Zamora also discussed the war in Ukraine and its severe consequences for the whole of Europe. The Head of State reiterated that there is no military solution to the conflict and that peace negotiations are necessary. Iotova emphasised that the European Union, which is currently absent from the negotiations, must also take part in them. For Bulgaria, the security of the Black Sea and freedom of navigation are of the utmost importance, as it is one of the main food supply routes, particularly for Africa, the Head of State noted.

 

Among the topics discussed between the Bulgarian President and the Andorran Prime Minister were the conflict in the Middle East and the resulting high fuel prices.
