Head of State: We Need Foresight and Wisdom to Make Our Common Home a Place of Peace and Understanding

In days of trial for humanity, we need more than ever foresight and wisdom to successfully build our common home and make it better place of peace and understanding. This is what President Rumen Radev said as he hosted the traditional Iftar Dinner on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Representatives of the religious communities in Bulgaria, and of the diplomatic corps, heads of state institutions, public figures, intellectual, cultural and science figures and educators were invited at the dinner.

In his speech, the President pointed out that the traditional Iftar dinner has established itself as an institutional sign of respect for the traditions and faith of the Muslim community in Bulgaria. The holy month of Ramadan is a time in which believers are driven by the noble aspiration to elevate their spirit and seek forgiveness and humanity in their souls, the President said, calling it an occasion to awaken empathy and compassion.

The head of State highlighted the role of the spiritual leaders in Bulgaria who, through their indispensable personal example, actively contribute to an open and dignified dialogue between the faiths. As President, I will continue to share the holidays of all our compatriots, to recall the historical traditions that unite our people, to promote goodwill between the different communities in Bulgaria, Rumen Radev said. He wished all Bulgarian Muslims, their families and loved ones health and prosperity.

Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi called for more humanity and mutual help, stressing that help is not always material and happiness is not only a material achievement. He expressed his gratitude to the head of State for his respect to the Muslim community in Bulgaria. Tonight's Iftar is indicative of the fact that you unite all Bulgarian citizens, regardless of religious and ethnic differences, Mustafa Hadzhi concluded.
