President Radev: It Is Time for the Bilateral Partnership with Japan to Go beyond Trade and for Bulgaria to Begin Implementing the Japanese Model of Interaction between Science, Education and Economy

Rumen Radev invited the Japanese business federation "Keidanren" to visit our country to hold a Bulgarian-Japanese business forum

It is time for the bilateral partnership with Japan to go beyond trade and for Bulgaria to begin implementing the Japanese model of interaction between science, education and economy. This was stated by President Rumen Radev at a meeting in Tokyo with the Japanese business federation "Keidanren". During the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of Bulgarian business, the head of state emphasized that Bulgaria highly values the Japanese companies that have invested in our country and is ready to deepen the bilateral economic partnership in new areas, including through the creation of joint production, development centres and scientific exchange.

Rumen Radev said that the transformation of the Bulgarian economy in recent years has led to a large share of our exports being electronics and robotics products, which reveals significant potential for interaction with Japan, which is among the leading countries in these sectors. Bulgaria is also successful in the production and export of micro and nano satellites, in the development of software and components for the automotive industry, which also provides an opportunity for the implementation of joint projects. Companies from Japan are already partnering with the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technologies in our country, which is also the first in Southeast Europe.

The possibility of partnership between Bulgaria and Japan in the field of defence industry and science was also discussed during the meeting.

Rumen Radev stressed that the upcoming signing of a Declaration of Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Japan is a clear sign of the institutions' support for the implementation of joint projects by business representatives from both countries. In addition to Bulgaria's strategic location, which is a bridge between Europe and Asia, our country has a favourable tax policy for investors, as well as highly educated and qualified human capital. The Bulgarian head of state invited the Japanese business federation "Keidanren" to visit our country to hold a Bulgarian-Japanese business forum, at which specific projects within the framework of bilateral cooperation would be identified.

Later, President Rumen Radev also met with the Speaker of the Lower House of the Japanese Parliament Fukushiro Nukaga.
