DIMITAR STOYANOV
Dimitar Stoyanov was born on 28 October 1968 in Svilengrad.
In 1986, he graduated from the Mathematics High School in Sofia. In 1986, he graduated from Sofia University. In the period 1986-1991, he continued his studies at the Higher Military Air School - Dolna Mitropoliya. In 2001, he graduated from the Military-Service Corps of the G. S. Rakovski Military Academy. He is also a graduate of Maxwell Air War College, USA.
Dimitar Stoyanov started his military career as a technician in the Fighter Aviation Regiment in Uzundzhovo. He served as an engineer at the Third Fighter Air Base "Graf Ignatievo". Since 2009 he has been Chief of Staff at the air base, in 2013 he became Head of the Aviation Equipment and Armament Sector at the Air Force Command. In 2014, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff at the Air Force Command, and in 2015-2016 he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
He is fluent in English and Russian. Married, with a child.
He was appointed Secretary General by Presidential Decree No. 44 of 23 January 2017.
In the second term of President Rumen Radev, he was appointed Chief Secretary by Decree No 10 of 22 January 2022.
He held the post of Minister of Defence in both caretaker governments of President Rumen Radev, which took office on 2 August 2022 and 3 February 2023 respectively.
By Decree No. 80, he was appointed Secretary for Security and Defence of the President, effective 6 June 2023.
