Win the 2015 "John Atanasoff” Awards of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria
On May 20th began this year’s contest for the “John Atanasoff” Presidential Awards that distinguish rising stars – researchers and entrepreneurs alike – in computer science and related fields, including cryptology, computational linguistics, robotics.
This year, two new award categories are introduced, continuing the Award’s evolution since 2012:
- The “Outstanding projects with social value-added” category seeks to highlight projects – stat-ups included - that address open and relevant issues of social significance. The projects can be carried out as stand-alone start-ups, or as projects under the hat of existing private, academic or NGO organizations. Both team and individual projects are eligible. All developers of initiatives broadly fitting these criteria under the age of 35 are eagerly encouraged to apply.
- The “First steps in computer sciences” category distinguishes talented highschool and 1st year university students who compete and succeed in international science and engineering fairs.
This award compliments the existing “Students and their teachers” category which highlights the achievements of international IT school olympiad teams since 2012.
The highest prize is “The John Atanasoff Award” supporting rising young computer scientists of Bulgarian descent and with a proven research track record and applied acumen.
The laureates of the “John Atanasoff” Awards in 2015 will be selected by a Comitteee comprising leading IT scientists and business leaders. The deadline for applications is 20 August 2015. All interested candidates are encouraged to find out more about the award here or at nagradajohnatanasoff@president.bg.
