The process of EU enlargement with the West Balkan countries is among Bulgaria’s foreign policy priorities and will be in the focus of Bulgaria’s EU presidency in 2018. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said, who held talks with Milo Djukanovic, Prime Minister of Montenegro, at 2 Dondukov street today.

Bulgaria has its action plan – the National Program for Development Bulgaria 2020. We reached a full consensus on the set priorities. We also have the instrument that will ensure the necessary resources to achieve the set targets – the Partnership Agreement with the European Commission up to 2020. The most important thing is in store for us – good performance. The Bulgarian people do not expect from the politicians to perform miracles, but expect dedication and work in the right direction. This is the only way results will be achieved. The 43rd National Assembly and the government may reverse the spiral of public trust. This is possible only if a principled approach is adopted and progress on the national priorities is made.

Regional Policy is in the Heart of European integration – it produces tangible results, leads to democracy and prosperity. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at a solemn ceremony in Sankt Polten, the Republic of Austria, where he received the ERI prix award for his contribution to preserving the diversity and equality of the regions on their road to united Europe.

Bulgaria and Austria have common plans and aims we strive to achieve, not only in terms of bilateral relations, but also on the European scene. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said after the meeting he held with Austria’s Federal President Heinz Fischer in the Hofburg palace in Vienna. After the talks the Bulgarian Head of State highlighted the active political dialogue and the excellent bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Austria, where he is on a two-day working visit.
