Switzerland will finance a project worth CHF 3.5 million francs aimed at improving professional education in Bulgaria, which is part of the Bulgarian-Swiss cooperation program worth 63 million euros. This became clear after the meeting held between President Rosen Plevneliev and the Swiss Head of State Didier Burkhalter in Bern. The Bulgarian Head of State is on a two-day visit to Switzerland.

The specialist in computer linguistics Dr. Slav Petrov is the 12th prize-winner of the presidential award John Atanasoff, which is awarded for achievements in the sphere of information and communication technologies. At the ceremony held in the coat of arms hall at 2 Dondukov street the Head of State Rosen Plevneliev awarded the prize to the winner.

President Rosen Plevneliev honored the mortal remains of Tsar Samuil, which are preserved in the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessalonica and laid a wreath before one of the most remarkable medieval rulers of Bulgaria. For the first time, upon the request of the Bulgarian state, the mortal remains were laid in state on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the death of Tsar Samuil.
