President Rosen Plevneliev held talks with US senators John McCain, Ron Johnson and Christopher Murphy, who are visiting Bulgaria. The Head of State exchanged views with the US senators on the situation in Ukraine, issues related to Bulgaria’s energy security and the cooperation between Bulgaria and the United States in the area of defense and security.

In his letter of congratulations to the leader of Ukraine, the Bulgarian Head of State said that the people of Ukraine made a decisive step on the path of their European and democratic development at the presidential elections held on 25 May.

Bulgaria must assume clear commitments to its energy security and diversification. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev told journalists in Warsaw. Energy security was high on the agenda of the talks held in the Polish capital between Central and East European Heads of state and government and US President Barack Obama.
