Vice-president Margarita Popova’s visit to Japan ended with an audience given by His Imperial Highness, Crown Prince Naruhito. The Bulgarian vice-president’s visit to Tokyo was on the occasion of the 55th anniversary since the diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Japan were resumed.

The European Union is a symbol of peace, democracy and human development. It guarantees everything the Bulgarian citizens strive for – the rule of law and rules, not the domination of shady ties and dependencies. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev told journalists after voting for Bulgarian members of the European Parliament.

"A lot succumbed to Euroscepticism because they lost their jobs. A lot of young people who have graduated university experience difficulties in finding a job. However, alienation, pessimism and apathy will not solve these problems. We should pool efforts and have a will for change."
