Bulgaria and the EU member states that are confronted with a problem related to the inflow of refugees, should not be left to solve their problems on their own, but should seek assistance and support on a European level, President Rosen Plevneliev said during the meeting he held with the ambassadors of Italy and Greece to Bulgaria.

For the first time in its newest history, Bulgaria has been hit by an inflow of refugees, which is a new challenge we are facing. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said during his meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response. According to the Head of State, the issue related to refugees and asylum seekers should not be used to gain narrow political dividends. Instead efforts should be put into drafting a systematic and long-term plan for overcoming the challenge.

The Bulgarian and the Vietnamese sides will work to ensure that the bi-lateral trade grows from the current 60 million US dollars to 500 million in the next couple of years, President Rosen Plevneliev said in Ho Chi Minh, where he opened a second office of the service on trade and economic issues at the Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam.

We are opening up new horizons and it is the politicians’ task to find the road and show pragmatism. I hope that agreements will be signed and new projects will be launched very soon. These were the words with which President Rosen Plevneliev addressed representatives of 30 Bulgarian and more than 50 Vietnamese companies in Ho Chi Minh, where the Head of state opened a Bulgarian-Vietnamese business forum.
