In the UN headquarters in New York, President Rosen Plevneliev and Antonio Guterres, High Commissioner for Refugees, discussed the necessity to update the plan for tackling the problem related to the increasing number of Syrian refugees. The Head of State informed Guterres about the measures Bulgaria has taken to accommodate the Syrian citizens.

President Rosen Plevneliev said that the UN member states must keep their promise and unite around a common agreement on the post-2015 priorities for human development, which also includes a new model for sustainable economic development. The Head of State made a statement at a round-table event in the United Nations, dedicated to the efforts put into implementing the Millennium Development Goals up to 2015.

A lasting political solution to the crisis in Syria must be achieved by resuming the negotiations in Geneva with the active participation of the United Nations. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev called on for from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly.
