Israel has the potential to increase the amount of its direct investments in Bulgaria, according to President Rosen Plevneliev, who met today with the Foreign Minister of Israel Avigdor Lieberman, who is visiting Bulgaria. Rosen Plevneliev and Avigdor Lieberman reviewed bilateral co-operation and highlighted the existing traditional relations of trust and strategic partnership between Bulgaria and Israel. The rescue of Bulgarian Jews during World War 2 is a historical fact, which has shaped the nature of contemporary relations between Bulgaria and Israel.

Bulgaria was at its strongest when the rulers were educated and the people enlightened, developing a strong spirituality, literature and culture. This was said by Vice President Margarita Popova in a speech to participants and guests at the celebration “Bulgaria: State of Spirit and Literature”, which was held in the European Parliament in Brussels under the patronage of President Rosen Plevneliev.

“At all my meetings, I receive recognition and appreciation for the work of the Bulgarian troops in Afghanistan,” Bulgarian President and armed forces Commander-in-Chief Rosen Plevneliev told officers and troops of the Bulgarian contingent.

Bulgaria can build a hospital in Afghanistan’s capital city Kabul and the Afghan side is ready to provide space for it. This emerged during a meeting between President Rosen Plevneliev and the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai.

Bulgaria will strengthen the administrative capacity of local authorities, President Rosen Plevneliev said at a meeting with President of the EU Committee of the Regions, Mercedes Bresso. According to Mercedes Bresso, local authorities will be able to actively participate in defining the priorities of regional development.
