Healthcare reform will be a condition for the granting of EU funds for Bulgaria in the next financial framework for the period 2014-2020 and is therefore particularly important in the coming months that our society agrees on the goals of health reform. This was said today by President Rosen Plevneliev at the opening of a meeting of the Council for Economic and Social Development Policies on “Health and health: key objectives and decisions”.

South East Europe and the Black Sea region is the third largest Austrian market and Bulgaria is a good platform for Austrian businesses. However, we must make a decisive step forward in the creation of prerequisites for quality investments. This should be a state policy with the responsibility borne by everyone - mayors, ministers, judges, prosecutors, President Rosen Plevneliev told reporters in Vienna.

European Union Cohesion Policy funds must not only be divided up and spent but must be used for smart investments, President Rosen Plevneliev said during a discussion at the European Commission Representation in Vienna late last night.

Austria will take a positive stance on Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area at the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council in October. This became clear after the meeting of President Rosen Plevneliev with his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer in Vienna. Austria considers that the framework and conditions for Schengen membership have been met by Bulgaria.

Bulgaria is a stable and reliable partner for foreign investors, showing great dynamism in its economic development, and Austrian companies benefit from that. This was said after a meeting between President Rosen Plevneliev and the Prime Minister of Lower Austria, Dr. Erwin Proll.
