President Plevneliev welcomes the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina

We welcome the agreement between Serbia and Kosovo and believe that both countries will promptly get the green light on the road to European integration. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev told Bulgarian journalists in Copenhagen regarding the agreement signed for normalizing the relationships, reached with the help of the European Union. Rosen Plevneliev reiterated Bulgaria’s firm support for the European integration of the countries in the Western Balkans and recalled that this was one of the basic issues discussed at his meeting with Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Prime Minister of Denmark.

With respect to Macedonia, the head of state said that our country still regarded the conclusion of the good neighborly relations agreement as a precondition “for guaranteeing security and green light to European integration,” Rosen Plevneliev added. “I believe we are at the final stage,”  Plevneliev added.

Before the media the President summarized the results of the official talks held on the first day of his visit to the Kingdom of Denmark.  The country has an interest in supporting Bulgaria by providing experts on the priorities set in the EU Multiannual Financial Framework after 2014 with regard to the so-called “integrated approach”, the head of state informed. The approach provides for streamlining the planning of the strategic policies in the spheres of education, innovations and the support for the different economic sectors.

In Copenhagen President Rosen Plevneliev met Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark, with whom they debated the opportunities for strengthening the cultural relationships between Bulgaria and Denmark.
