The President: Although I will do my best to ensure that we have a government, this also depends on the political parties

No one will benefit from a yet another early general election, President Rosen Plevneliev said at a meeting with the Bulgarian media in Brussels, after his participation in the European Council meeting was over.  “We managed to set a record period of nine days to convene the National Assembly.  I will not waste more time and effectively hand the mandate for forming a government. If GERB happens to return the mandate, I will not protract things further and will hand the mandate to the BSP,” President Rosen Plevneliev said.

“Although I will do my best to ensure that we have a government in the next days, this also depends on the political parties,” the Head of State pointed out. The President reiterated once again that he will fully support the prompt formation of a government. “If the priorities the parties have set themselves are reasonable and are aimed at securing Bulgaria a worthy place in the European Union, I will support them, no matter to which end of the political spectrum they belong to,” the President said in Brussels.
