Bulgaria and the US share a common vision of security challenges

Bulgaria and the US share a common vision of the risks and threats to security in the region and globally. This became clear at a meeting between President Rosen Plevneliev and the Director of Central Intelligence Agency of the United States David Petraeus, who visited Bulgaria from June 5 to 7.

At the meeting, Mr Petraeus praised the level of co-operation between the CIA and Bulgarian intelligence services. Bulgaria’s contribution in the reconstruction missions in Iraq and Afghanistan was emphasised. President Plevneliev expressed gratitude for the consistent and principled support provided to the Bulgarian security services by the CIA. The President and Mr Petraeus noted the mutual interest of Bulgaria and the United States in this co-operation being deepened in the future.
