President Plevneliev thanked Our Compatriots in Poland for the High Activity of the Civil Society
Better electronic services for the citizens and the business circles and a more active advertisement of the Bulgarian producers are the questions that the representatives of the Bulgarian community in Warsaw raised at the meeting with President Plevneliev. The Head of State is on a two-day official visit to Poland.
The President thanked our compatriots in Poland for their high civil activity, for their support for the initiatives launched by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, for the functioning of the Sunday school and for their active participation in the general election held in October. “This is a proof of your commitment to your homeland and of your interest in the events unfolding in Bulgaria,” the President further said. Rosen Plevneliev once again called on for speeding up the introduction of e-government in our country, which will facilitate the access of Bulgarian compatriots abroad to the state institutions, including while they exercise their right to vote.
The President briefed the representatives of the Bulgarian community on the highlights in the meetings he held in Warsaw and emphasized the contribution our compatriots have made to creating a positive image of Bulgaria in Poland. “The excellent relations between the two countries are a prerequisite for strengthening the economic and cultural exchange. We owe this also to you and to the way you represent Bulgaria here,” the Head of State said.
The President told our compatriots in Poland that Bulgaria shows an interest in a higher level of integration with the countries of the Visegrad Group. Rosen Plevneliev said that by setting an example for partnership within the Visegrad Group, by strengthening its cooperation with the Baltic States and with Bulgaria and Romania, Poland has become a leader in and engine of the integration processes in Eastern Europe.
The President acquainted the Bulgarians living in Poland with the Bulgarian activities within the initiative for marking the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the democratic changes in our country, including the opening of the monument of the Holy Pope John Paul II in Belene. “During my visit in Gdansk we will also highlight the important role of the Solidarity Movement which became a symbol of the democratic choice and the fight for civil rights,” the Head of State further emphasized.
The President’s official visit will continue today in Gdansk, where Rosen Pleveneliev will lay flowers in front of the monument of the victims of the events in 1970.
Later the Head of State will visit the exhibition titled “The Road to Freedom” held in the European Memorial Center of the Solidarity Movement.
