Trust at the highest level between Bulgaria and the State of Qatar is a prerequisite for successful Qatari investments in Bulgaria

Infrastructure, tourism, agriculture and real estate are the main areas in which Qatari investors are showing interest in Bulgaria. This became clear during a meeting between President Rosen Plevneliev and the Deputy Prime Minister of the State of Qatar, Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah on the second day of the “Rio+20” UN Forum on Sustainable Development. The State of Qatar has identified a number of specific projects, currently each of them under analysis before specific actions are decided on.

In agriculture, Qatari business is particularly interested in the food production and rose oil. Qatar is rich in energy and mineral resources, but scarce water resources do not allow food production. Confidence at the highest government level, the geographical proximity of the two countries and competitive prices make Bulgarian products favourable, Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah said.

Qatar will receive the necessary support from government institutions in the implementation of its projects in Bulgaria, President Rosen Plevneliev assured. He underlined that investments go where there is security and stability, and Bulgaria can offer both conditions to Qatari businesses.
