Rosen Plevneliev: Bulgaria will make every effort for those guilty of the tragedy to be deservedly punished

In a telephone conversation with Israeli head of state Shimon Peres, President Rosen Plevneliev expressed condolences on the deaths of the Israeli civilians killed in the terrorist attack at Sarafovo airport. Bulgaria will make every effort for those guilty of the tragedy to be fairly punished, President Plevneliev underlined.

Presidents Plevneliev and Peres agreed that the tragedy near Burgas would make the friendship between Bulgaria and Israel even stronger. The two presidents praised the rapid response and the work of Bulgarian medical teams at Burgas hospital, thanks to which lives were saved.

All measures have been taken to ensure the security of Israeli citizens in the country, the Bulgarian President said, and emphasised the excellent co-operation between the Bulgarian and Israeli authorities.

Relations between Bulgaria and Israel are very friendly at all levels, President Peres said. He expressed his gratitude to President Plevneliev for the organisation by the Bulgarian authorities after the tragedy. “We must be united and not let the terrorists win,” the Israeli head of state said, and assured President Plevneliev that Israel “openly and with all its strength” would do its utmost for those responsible for the violence to be punished.
