Head of State and Burgenland Governor discuss possibilities for long-term partnership in renewable energy
President Rumen Radev and visiting Governor of Burgenland, Austria, Hans Peter Doskozil, discussed the long-term partnership in the field of energy transformation, the more efficient use of renewable energy and the transition to climate neutrality. The two pointed to the good relations between Bulgaria and Austria in the economic and cultural spheres and identified specific areas for their development.
They confirmed that the energy transformation is not an individual competition, but a common cause for which efforts and expertise should be combined.
Radev highlighted the successful experience of the Austrian federal state of Burgenland in the construction of solar and wind energy facilities and pointed out that Bulgaria could use it in achieving the common European climate goals, including in the implementation of the activities set out in the Bulgarian Recovery and Resilience Plan. The Head of State stressed that the Green Deal faced this country with new challenges in which cooperation could be particularly useful and lead to benefits for society and added value for the economy of both nations.
The two were unanimous that sharing good practices between EU countries and exchanging new technologies in the field of green energy were useful for achieving sustainable energy solutions in each member state. The need to increase energy security and provide affordable electricity was also among the topics of the meeting.
