Rosen Plevneliev: Bulgaria has already formed a culture of entrepreneurship

A culture of entrepreneurship has begun to develop in Bulgaria and the setting up in 2013 of Sofia Tech Park will support this process, President Rosen Plevneliev said at a meeting with the Bulgarian community in Boston.

The President spoke to the Bulgarian community on the last day of his working visit to the United States. He said that Sofia Tech Park is set to be Bulgaria’s first innovation ecosystem, that in particular will enable small and medium businesses to build strategic partnerships in sectors with high added value. It is imperative that small and medium-sized businesses receive priority attention, which has not happened until now, the President said. The Bulgarian community in Boston raised with President Plevneliev issues regarding career opportunities in Bulgaria, how to attract more foreign investment and to start a business in Bulgaria.

Earlier, the President spoke to the business community and members of the Harvard Club in Boston. He briefed them on the economic situation in the country and on opportunities for investment and economic growth in the coming years.

During a visit to the Cambridge Innovation Centre, President Plevneliev was briefed on a mobile device for scanning the retina and a full health diagnostics device, along with other innovative products. The centre is among the largest business incubators in the world, involving more than 500 startups. In Boston, President Plevneliev visited one of the largest companies in the area of Massachusetts, specialising in the development of biotechnology.
