President Rumen Radev Meets with German Ambassador

President Rumen Radev discussed the prospects for further development of the economic and investment cooperation between Bulgaria and the Federal Republic of Germany at a meeting with Ambassador, H.E. Irene Maria Plank.  Bulgaria highly values the partnership with the German business in Bulgaria, which contributes to the modernisation of the Bulgarian economy and the transfer of technologies to this country, Rumen Radev emphasised. The President expressed readiness to meet with leading German companies to stimulate the interest of German business in Bulgaria and increase bilateral trade worth EUR 12 billion a year.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the strategic autonomy of Europe in the context of the changed security environment due to the war in Ukraine, the consequences of the energy crisis, illegal migration, as well as the process of European integration for the Western Balkan countries, for which the fulfilment of the Copenhagen criteria for EU membership is crucial.
