Rumen Radev: Bulgaria Has Its Proven Place on the World Map as a Year-Round Tourist Destination
The summer tourist season opened in Nessebar under the patronage of the Head of State
Bulgaria has its place on the world's tourist map as a year-round destination and that is why we should enrich people's perception of our country. This is what President Rumen Radev said in Nessebar, where the summer tourist season for 2024 was opened under the patronage of the Head of State. The event, which was held in front of the gates of the Ancient City of Nessebar, was attended by the caretaker Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev, the Mayor of Nessebar Nikolay Dimitrov, as well as heads of diplomatic missions in the country.
Bulgaria's greatest wealth is its people, the President emphasised, highlighting the efforts of the representatives of the local authorities and the tourism industry in the country, who, despite the recent difficult years for the whole world, are making great efforts for Bulgaria to defend its name as a first-class and safe tourist destination. The Head of State pointed out that the environment in tourism is highly competitive and therefore the state should make efforts to make use of all our country's advantages as a tourist destination and attract tourists from different countries with high quality services in the sector, which would contribute to the domestic economy.
The Head of State congratulated the Mayor of Nessebar Nikolay Dimitrov for the way the town looks and for the care that the municipality's team is taking to ensure that Nessebar takes a worthy place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There is hardly a more appropriate place for today's event than the Nessebar coast - here the thousand-year history of our lands coexist with the comfort of modern tourist services, the splendour of our nature with the famous hospitality of the local people, Rumen Radev said.
The President addressed the foreign guests and media at the event with an appeal to share with their friends, colleagues and audience that they are welcome in Bulgaria where they can enjoy an unforgettable summer in 2024.
During his visit to Nessebar, President Radev toured the Old Town, visited the churches of St John Aliturgetos and St Stefanos and attended a concert in Mesambria Square with performances by local ensembles. The Head of State was accompanied by his wife Desislava Radeva.
