Radev and Croatia's PM discuss Bulgaria's Schengen Accession to Land Borders and EU Enlargement

Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen land borders and the EU enlargement process were discussed by President Rumen Radev and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. The two held talks at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, on the sidelines of the European political community meeting.

The head of state highlighted the actions taken by Bulgaria to strengthen the protection of the EU's external borders, as well as the fruitful cooperation in this regard with the Republic of Turkey. Dealing with the migratory pressure towards Europe is a matter of the security of the European citizens and the Union and our country is actively working for this, Radev said.

The President also noted the responsibility of the EU member states in the region for the promotion of the values of democracy, respect for human rights and the fulfilment of the Copenhagen criteria for EU membership in the Western Balkans, which are also of key importance for the progress in the process of European integration for our neighbours.
