Rumen Radev: Bulgaria Is Interested in Making Maximum Use of Its Potential for Natural Gas Transmission to the EU and Our Region

Bulgaria is interested in making maximum use of its potential for natural gas transmission to the European Union and our region. This was stated by Head of State Rumen Radev at a meeting today with the management of the Turkish company BGN. The company specialises in the construction of energy infrastructure, production, and trade in liquefied natural gas and fuels. The meeting was held at the initiative of the company, which operates worldwide and plans to increase exports of energy resources to the EU, including liquefied natural gas, by utilising Bulgaria's potential in this area.

During the meeting, Radev highlighted the importance and potential of the Solidarity Ring initiative, created in 2023 by the caretaker government, appointed by him, to increase natural gas transmission to the EU by using and modernising the existing gas transmission infrastructure of the countries involved. A number of countries in the region and in Central and Eastern Europe have expressed interest in importing natural gas through Bulgaria under this initiative. The Head of State expressed confidence that Bulgarian institutions will take the necessary steps to increase the transit of liquefied natural gas to the EU, as well as to restore and strengthen confidence in our country as a reliable partner in natural gas transit.

The company's management also expressed interest in implementing joint projects in the field of transport and energy connectivity in our region.
