Radev Discussed Europe's Prospects for Addressing the Challenges It Faces with Hungarian Foreign Minister

The prospects for Europe in addressing the challenges it faces were discussed today at the presidential institution by Head of State Rumen Radev and Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto who is visiting Bulgaria for a meeting with the Bulgarian Head of State.

The two were unanimous that restoring peace in Europe through diplomacy is a priority for the EU and the only way to ensure the long-term security and stability of the Old Continent. The need for systematic EU action to strengthen Europe's competitiveness and the social and economic stability of the Union was also emphasised. In this regard, the joint actions taken by Bulgaria and Hungary to expand regional connectivity in order to ensure the reliability of energy supply and transit chains, as well as bilateral economic partnership, were discussed.

The outcome of the recent meeting between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and US President Donald Trump and the opportunities for cooperation between Europe and the US were also discussed between President Radev and the Hungarian Foreign Minister.
