President Iliana Iotova and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Armenia in Yerevan.

Iotova and Pashinyan highlighted the high level of political dialogue between the two countries. Both were adamant that there is a significant untapped potential for developing bilateral relations in a number of areas. They emphasised strengthening ties in the economy, energy, security, and defence. The Bulgarian head of state and the Armenian prime minister expressed hope that the new government in Bulgaria would more actively develop bilateral cooperation.

The meeting highlighted the traditionally good relations between the Bulgarian and Armenian peoples. Nikol Pashinyan thanked Iliana Iotova for the conditions the Bulgarian state provides to the Armenian community to preserve and develop its identity and culture.

President Iotova stated Bulgaria’s readiness, as a member of the European Union for 19 years, to assist Armenia with its experience on the path toward closer integration with the Union.

The military conflicts in Ukraine and Iran and their consequences in all aspects were also a topic of discussion between Iotova and Pashinyan.

The Bulgarian president is scheduled to meet with her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan.

The head of state is visiting the Armenian capital to participate in the 8th European Political Community Summit, which will bring together heads of state and government from nearly 50 countries. The European Political Community aims to promote political dialogue and cooperation to strengthen security, stability, and prosperity on the European continent.
