The Head of State delivered a lecture at the European Commission Representation in Berlin Bulgarian people believe in politicians who not only point out the problems but also find solutions. My goal is not to be re-elected, but to do as much work as possible while I hold this post. This was said today by President Rosen Plevneliev in a lecture at the European Commission Representation in Berlin entitled “Bulgaria - a reliable partner in the EU”. The Bulgarian Head of State is a two-day official visit to Germany.

Speaking during a visit to the Adlershof technology centre in Berlin on the first day of a two-day official visit to Germany, President Rosen Plevneliev called for more Bulgarian-German joint ventures in innovation and for German expert support in the implementation of the concept of Sofia Tech Park by the end of 2012.

President Rosen Plevneliev today conferred the Order of Saints Cyril and Methodius first degree on Vasil Lyaze, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation of the Orthodox Church of the Bulgarian Exarchate, and Dimitar Atanasov, a member of the Board of the Foundation, for their great contribution to the preservation of Bulgarian cultural and spiritual heritage in Turkey.

The procedure for electing a new Prosecutor-General must be legitimate and transparent and based on objective rules and criteria, said President Rosen Plevneliev, who met today at 2 Dondoukov Boulevard with Supreme Judicial Council representative Anelia Mingova and chief inspector of the Inspectorate at the SJC, Anna Karaivanova.

Clear procedures and rules provide for transparency in the selection of members of the Supreme Judicial Council as well as of the Prosecutor-General. Equally important, however, are the criteria to ensure that only proven professionals and worthy representatives of the judiciary may be elected to key positions. This was agreed at a meeting today by President Rosen Plevneliev and Prosecutor-General Boris Velchev.
